About

Two designers, one way of working

A Laval studio founded in 2015, specialized in residential work, present from the first survey to the last touch-up.

The studio

Atelier Tria began in 2015, when Yanel Haba and Jade Massicotte — both trained in Montréal — decided to work together. The studio is based in Laval and works mostly in residential: kitchens, bathrooms, basements, whole-home renovations.

The work starts with listening. A couple who entertain every weekend and a family with three children do not need the same kitchen, even when both plans fit the same footprint. Everything else — materials, colours, furniture — follows from that conversation.

We then see the project through: technical drawings, quotes, shopping, coordination with contractors and trades, site visits. Few studios our size go that far, and it is exactly where the gap opens between a good drawing and a room that works.

The designers

Yanel Haba

Yanel Haba

Interior Designer

Yanel holds a DEC in arts and a bachelor’s degree in interior design from the Université de Montréal. She worked in residential, commercial and medical settings before co-founding the studio.

She has travelled widely, and it shows in her projects: she will put together combinations of colour and material that few designers would risk, without ever losing sight of how the room is actually lived in.

Jade Massicotte

Jade Massicotte

Interior Designer

Jade earned her DEC in interior design at Cégep Marie-Victorin. She started out advising clients on layout, materials and furniture, then specialized in kitchens — the most technical room in the house.

Methodical and fluent in visualization software, she produces most of the studio’s 3D imagery. Her view: a well-designed space is measured first in ergonomics, in centimetres, and in daily use.

Why a designer

Three concrete reasons

Fewer expensive mistakes

A countertop cut to the wrong depth, a cabinet door that fouls the wall, a light fixture ordered twice: fixing things mid-build costs more than the fee that would have prevented it.

Decisions made once

We arrive knowing what needs doing, in what order and by when. Obstacles get solved on the drawing rather than on site, while there is still time.

Value that stays

A well-designed kitchen or bathroom sells. The choices that date fastest — this season’s trend, the material of the moment — are exactly the ones we steer around.
